After 3D movies wooed the
world with their amazing effects, innovators in the mobile phone space
also cashed in on the technology. Mobile games and videos are now
coming in 3D, making the images come alive on the mobile screen.
Spice has taken this to the next level with India's
first 3D mobile phone-Spice View D. The phone comes with features like
'remote wipe'. The phone will allow the users to experience images,
videos and even the interface in 3D. The View D is priced at `4,299.
The Spice M-67 3D mobile phone is available across India through more
than 50,000 retail points including the 750+ Spice HotSpot retail
network.
The best part of these mobile
phones is that you can enjoy the 3D experience without the restrictions
of the 3D glasses. The trend has been fast catching up with LG
Electronics and YouTube also announcing a partnership to provide a
unique 3D mobile experience to users. LG's upcoming Android-powered
premium smartphones will enable users not only to capture and view 3D
videos without glasses, but also to upload and share them instantly
with others via YouTube.
The recently concluded Mobile World Congress was
also resplendent with 3D on the mobile. LG launched the Optimus 3D,
bringing a 3D screen that doesn't require glasses to a smartphone for
the first time. It features dual cameras so one can easily shoot one's
own 3D video. Users can even share the home-made avatar with the world
with a technology like 3D channel on YouTube. Gameloft, which
previously supported Apple's iPhone and iPad with games, had franchises
like Asphalt 6. It lets Golf and NOVA running in autostereoscopic
(glasses free) 3D at LG's new Optimus 3D phone.
With Nokia and Intel also getting into the deal to
provide an immersive experience, mobile 3D is definitely a hot trend
that will fast catch up. And with expectations from mobile gaming and
video going up, these will be the main applications driving 3D on
mobile handsets.
