Sony Ericsson Xperia Play goes official!

Sony Ericsson's Play Station smartphone Xperia Play is official now! The smartphone is set for a February 13th launch according to the company's Facebook page and an ad.
According to the ad, Xperia Play will run Google Inc's Android operating system.

The smartphone is also likely to be the first device to meet Sony's PlayStation Certified distinction standards. The specifications set out by Sony allow Android-based handsets to play older PlayStation games on  mobile phones and tablet PCs.

Other than the device having a full PSP inbuilt, its other specs reportedly include a 4-inch multitouch 854 x 480 LCD display and Qualcomm MSM8655 chipset.

With Xperia Play, Sony Ericsson has for the first time teamed up with the Japanese parent company's PlayStation group on product development. Earlier, its phones offered Sony-developed music and camera capabilities.

The ads' tagline goes: The smartphone with everything you need, and the one thing you want.
